Horticultural Statistics 2016

  • In 2016, the total number of horticultural enterprises was 3,631
  • Outdoor cultivation area was 17,643 hectares and greenhouse area 399 hectares.
  • In terms of cultivation area, the most important outdoor vegetables were pea (3,656 ha), carrot (1,697 ha) and onion (1,124 ha).
  • The total harvest of outdoor vegetables amounted to 177 million kilos, of which 73 million kilos were carrots.
  • A harvest of berries was 17 million kilos. Strawberries accounted for 14 million kilos.
  • The amount of greenhouse vegetables produced was 86 million kilos, of which 40 million kilos were tomatoes and 39 million kilos were cucumbers.
  • Special tomatoes accounted for 4 million kilos or 11% of the total production of tomatoes.
  • The cultivation area of ornamental plants in greenhouses totalled 121 hectares.
  • Tulip record was 81 million tulips.
