Livestock living conditions and manure storage 2016 (provisional)

Published 16.11.2017
  • Approximately seven per cent of all farms exported manure outside the farm. This figure is at the same level as in the previous statistics from 2010.
  • Solid manure and slurry were exported to an equal extent.
  • Approximately 11 per cent of all farms imported manure. This means that the number of importing farms was higher than that of exporting farms.
  • Approximately two million tons of manure were transported between farms.
  • Composting solid manure was the most common processing method to change the properties of manure. It was used on nearly four per cent of all farms.
  • Other methods, such as separation, aeration or fermentation, were used by less than 0.5 per cent of all farms.
  • The average proportion of processed manure from all manure on farms was two thirds or higher, depending on the method.
