Milk and Milk Product Statistics, year 2017

• Milk production decreased to 2,336 million litres in 2017. Dairies received 2 297 million litres of milk
• In December 2017, milk producers numbered 6,810 - 500 less than in 2016.
• Organic milk production was 62 million litres and there were 146 organic milk producers.
• There were 270,600 dairy cows in December 2017, which is two per cent less than in December 2016.
• A dairy cow's average yield rose to 8,500 litres.

Production volumes of dairy products

Compared to the previous year, in year 2017:

• The production volumes of liquid dairy products fell by 4%
• Butter production fell by 5%
• Cheese production rose by 3%.
