Description

The statistics contain an estimate of the area sown with winter wheat and rye. Estimated cultivation areas have been calculated using data collected during the autumn sowing season of that year.

The statistics contain an estimate of the area sown with winter wheat and rye. Since 2003, the statistics have also included information on the direct seeding percentage of the total area sown.

Data is available for the whole of Finland and also regionally by Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres).

Data collection and sources

Data is collected in conjunction with the harvest survey in October.

Update frequency

The statistics are drawn up annually.

Preparation and publication schedule

An advance estimate is published in December for the whole of Finland and also by Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres). The final cultivation areas for winter crops are published in the Cultivated Arable Land statistics, which are available as an advance in May/June of the following year.
