Horticultural Statistics 2019

  • In 2019, the total number of horticultural enterprises was 3,348
  • Outdoor cultivation area was 19,600 hectares and greenhouse area 394 hectares.
  • In terms of cultivation area, the most important outdoor vegetables were garden pea (4,950 ha), carrot (1,830 ha) and onion (1,230 ha).
  • The total harvest of outdoor vegetables amounted to 189 million kilos, of which 77 million kilos were carrots.
  • A harvest of berries was 21 million kilos. Strawberries accounted for almost 18 million kilos.
  • Apple production record was 8 million kilos
  • The amount of greenhouse vegetables produced was 100 million kilos, of which 48 million kilos were cucumber and 40 million kilos were tomatoes.
  • The cultivation area of ornamental plants in greenhouses totalled 117 hectares.
