Producer prices for fish 2018

  • The producer price of Baltic Herring used for human consumption (0,27 € / kg) rose compared to year before, whereas the price of Baltic herring defined as feed (0,18 € / kg) remained the same as in 2017.
  • The highest producer price, 6,27 € / kg, was paid for pikeperch.
  • The producer price of wild salmon had been increasing for two consecutive years, but now declined to 6,08 € / kg.
  • The producer prices of perch, burbot, pike and bream increased compared to previous year.
  • The price of rainbow trout (5,15 € / kg) declined compared to 2017, whereas the price of farmed whitefish (10,41 € / kg) rose, and was highest in the 2000s.
  • Information about fish producer prices is collected from enterprises that purchase fish from fishermen.  Information about the producer price of farmed fish is obtained from the Finnish Fish Farmers' Association.
