Structure of agricultural and horticultural enterprises 2019 (provisional)

- There were a total of 46,717 agricultural and horticultural enterprises in Finland in 2019. The number of farms dropped by approximately 900 on the year 2018.
- The average utilised agricultural area of the farms was 49 hectares.
- The average age of farmers was 53 years.
- Some 86 per cent of all farms were family-run, nine per cent were farming syndicates, while farms owned by heirs and limited liability farms represented two per cent each.
- Approximately 8 per cent of all farmers on privately owned farms are under the age of 35, and 30 per cent are over the age of 60.
